50% Alfrocheiro, 25% Touriga Nacional & 25% Jaen

We first discovered Alvaro's wines in a restaurant in Porto, paired beautifully with pork belly cooke dover an open fire. Wonderfully vibrant, bright and juicy red made from native Portuguese varieties Alfrocheiro, Touriga-Nacional and the peppery Jaen (Mencía in Spain).

Grapes are hand-picked and fermentation occurs in temperature controlled, stainless steel tanks with wild yeasts from a pied de cuve (like a sourdough starter). The wine ages for 18 months in a mix of used and new French oak barrels.
